Brass Floor lamp designed by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte

Iluminator Floor lamp in brass, an rare early heavy brass model, designed by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte in 1933.
As one of the premiere expnents of Italian Art deco, Pietro Chiesa’s work was widely exhibited. His designs were simple in form yet had a striking monumentality as in his best know floor light above. The elegant fluted form of the Luminator introduced into the domestic interior for the first time a type of indirect light only previously used by photographers.
